Closetcrafty Will Be At YOUREKA!
I was invited by Freeform to take part as a vendor at YOUREKA's finale party on 25 Nov, Wed, 7pm - midnite at KL Live. I said yes. Well, party's not quite my scene but I thought it'd be a good outlet for me to create awareness about the impact of junk on the environment. The vendors chosen are mainly DIY vendors, that's one good reason to support!
Well, do pop over if you're in that area!

Earth Day Carnival by Justlife
Wan Li and I were Patch the bird educating kindie kids and pre-schoolers about Earth Day. He, Chinese session, I, English session. The 500+ children between the ages of 2 1/2 - 6 years old were mainly from Tadika Diyana and King's School.
Everyday Patch amuse, teach, sing, make crafts, eat and dance with the children.
Most of the children already know what Planet Earth is. When asked, 'Do you know that Planet Earth is not feeling well?' They answered with conviction 'Planet Earth have a hole because we are throwing a lot a lot of rubbish' 'global warming!' 'my mommy save the Earth every night by switching off the lights!' 'don't cut down the trees!' 'plant more flowers!' 'pick up rubbish' 'don't throw rubbish into the waters if not all the animals will die!'...
You've no idea how excited Patch was to have met so many wonderful children who wants to love the Earth with her. We then sang a birthday song to Earth that went like this
Happy Birthday to Earth
Happy Birthday to Earth
Happy Birthday to Earth
I lo-ove the Earth.....
Free flow of little organic muffins specially baked by Mr Martin the bread artisan were then given out to the kiddies together with a delicious cup of organic blackcurrant juice.
Later, Patch and juslife's team taught the kids how to make notepads using tissue and cereal boxes as covers and assorted strings about to end up in the trash to tie the notepad together. The children decorated the covers with impressions of their love for Earth.
Patch explaining to the kids why Earth is not feeling well and took them on an eco tour, explaining the 3Rs...
Reduce. Reuse. Recycle e.g. they must use reusable lunch boxes instead of disposables takeaway boxes, use hankies instead of tissues, bring own shopping bags and say no to plastic bags, how to turn recyclables into crafting materials to make own toys. And what cannot be used must be sent to the recycling centre. Then Patch showed them the wonders of newspaper, old cloth, plastic bottles and how to make their own toys!

Closetcrafty will be at Earth Day Carnival | 16 Apr - 26 Apr
I will be there to teach the pre-schoolers between the ages 2 - 6 about global warming and how to RE-USE everything that's about to end up in the garbage bin. After the long winded preaching they will then get to enjoy some wholesome organic snacks and take a nice half hour break before storytime begins... The stories are about Troodi the mama turtle that ate a plastic bag, died and left her two babies behind. And if we still have time I will get to share with them another story, a TRUE story about Billie the bear who got it's head stuck in a popcorn jar someone left behind after a picnic!

Pecha Kucha Night | KL | Vol.5
I did it! I finally did it!!! I may seem like a toughy but when it comes to public speaking - my ultimate fear factor - i turn into tofu. i don't know if I have the guts to do it again but it was surely a liberating experience. A big thanks to British Council and especially Sunitha and Pat for making it less daunting for me.
The event was held at The Apartment at KLCC, about 100+ people turned up , we expected a lot less tho. Met Wai Lam , Sarah, Nazim who are truly talented designer, artist, photographer. my friends Lisa+SooSim and Jo Foo were awesome too!
Read more about them here, an article featured by The Edge
Pecha Kucha Night, devised by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham (Klein Dytham architecture), was conceived in 2003 as a place for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. Each presenter is allowed 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds each - giving 6 minutes 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up.

Man + God International Visual Feast | Beijing, China
Artist Penny Yuen Project Man & God by Art4Soul Title I’M A TREE! I’M NOT A RUSSIAN DOLL! Artist's Rationale
I’M A TREE! I’M NOT A RUSSIAN DOLL! is about
GOD’s creation and MAN’s love for destruction.
MAN has done major destruction amongst
themselves, to the animal kingdom and the
environment on this planet. Senseless
bloodshed has never deterred MAN from
obtaining what he wants out of greed.
Very few people are happy with who they are,
and where they are going. Every day, millions
of people try to change their bodies. Many try
to alter their looks with cosmetics or even
plastic surgery. Scientists feel they may soon
be able to slow the aging process with drugs
even if it means to sacrifice innocent
animals. Is it in the very nature of MAN to
try to change what GOD meant for us to be?
Or are we just Satan's children at war with
GOD?
